Sedation is administered as Midazolam, a short-acting benzodiazepine from the same family as diazepam, given through a vein in the arm. It takes effect within a couple of minutes and leaves most patients with little to no memory of treatment — while still able to speak and respond to instructions throughout.
The drug works almost instantly and wears off gradually over around 30 minutes, so you never suddenly wake up — and it's easy to top up if more is needed.
No — unlike alcohol, the effects wear off fairly quickly and there's no lingering hangover feeling.
Benzodiazepines are widely used and have an excellent safety record — adverse reactions are extremely rare. You're checked for medical contraindications before it's prescribed.
You'll need someone to collect you and look after you afterwards. Avoid driving, operating machinery, or making important decisions for 24 hours.

A crack can range from a minor surface line to a fracture reaching down into the root, and symptoms are often inconsistent — pain on biting or release, or sensitivity to hot and cold, that comes and goes. Treatment depends entirely on the crack's depth and direction, from a simple filling or crown through to root canal treatment, or in more severe cases, extraction. Left unchecked, a crack can worsen, so it's worth being seen promptly if you suspect one.
A conservative way to replace a missing tooth without preparing the neighbouring teeth for crowns, as a traditional bridge would — a false tooth is attached to a thin wing, bonded to the back of the adjacent teeth. Often a good option for younger patients or as a longer-term temporary solution.

Colleagues are welcome to refer patients for implant assessment, sinus lifting, IV sedation, or complex restorative cases outside their comfort zone. Patients are returned to their referring dentist for ongoing care once treatment is complete.
Complete the referral form with relevant history, radiographs and the reason for referral, and send it across with the patient's consent.
The patient is seen for a full assessment, including CT or Trios scanning where relevant, and a treatment plan is prepared.
Treatment is carried out in clinic, with a written update sent back throughout, and the patient returned to your care on completion.
